2011 Funding Support - Direct Support Initiative - Capacity Development:
The New Relationship Trust Capacity Initiatives — Direct Support is supporting BC First Nations that provide “Capacity Building” benefits for their respective First Nation communities. The New Relationship Trust will support:
- A maximum of $25,000 per project will be available where one (1) First Nation is involved.
- A maximum of $50,000 per project will be available where three (3) partnering First Nations are involved.
- Projects must identify a minimum of 25% equity (own or other sources) to support total project costs.

Governance Planning:
Conduct governance capacity assessment
Capacity training (i.e. workshops, training courses, mentorships)
Implementing accountability and reporting systems
Policy development
Laws, by-laws development, governance code
Develop consultation policy
Design consultation protocols
Develop traditional lands guidelines, policies, laws
Land Use Planning & Comprehensive Community Planning:
Project planning (i.e. develop the project structure and work-plans)
Community planning (strategy and visioning)
Professional and technical assessments
Community engagement (obtaining community support and feedback
through forums, workshops, gatherings)
Creating the plan
Economic Development Planning:
Corporate governance
Economic Development Planning
Economic scans
Feasibility studies
Impact and benefit agreements
a) A maximum of $25,000 per project will be available where one First Nation is involved; or b) A maximum of $50,000 per project will be available where three partnering First Nations are involved.
