Five Guardian Watchmen Programs are collecting field data this patrol season for select priority indicators important to managing cultural and ecological resources in their territories.  The Haisla, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo/Xai'Xais, Nuxalk and Wuikinuxv Nations are documenting information on wildlife sightings, commercial and tourist boat traffic, prawn and crab fishing effort, and tourist activities.

Forty-five participants from ten coastal First Nations gathered at the Hakai Beach Institute on the Central Coast last week to learn from each other's experiences and share their successes and concerns in monitoring and stewarding ecological and cultural resources on their territories.
