With quotes from Chantal Pronteau and Curtis Rollie, both Coastal Guardian Watchmen from the Kitasoo/Xai’Xais Nation, as well as key leaders in the Heiltsuk First Nation, including William Housty and Kelly Brown, the article rightly links Indigenous authority with environmental stewardship and sustainability, and points out the unique importance of Coastal First Nations that have not signed treaties or ceded control of their lands.
